For the past week, thousands of Turkish citizens have protested the demolition of Gezi Park, one of the few green areas left in the center of Istanbul. The clashes started in the early morning of May 29th in Istanbul due to the police attacks to protestors who refused government's plans to build a shopping mall in Gezi Park. There were clashes between the police and the demonstrators in many cities of Turkey. Police dispelled the protesters with pepper spray and water cannons. On the 8th day of protest, many citizens who live in Turkey, gave their support to guard the green areas in their hometowns.
